After traveling for a long time and working from home, cafés, and coworking spaces in Prague, I realized that any of these was fulfilling my work-life balance:
– FROM HOME: it was comfortable but hard to concentrate and to be productive. Moving from bed to desk, fridge, Netflix and other distractions we all have.
– FROM A CAFÉ: I loved the idea about the freedom to move every day to a new place and having a constant change of people. But it was not good in terms of concentration, safety, good wifi, noise and the most important, economic.
Some Café owners are not happy when someone is using a table for hours and ordering only 1 or 2 coffees. That feeling of guilt forced me to constantly order something. It is true that some people do not care, but I do.
– FROM COWORKING SPACES IN PRAGUE I visited, first days were good, I felt more productive because all the people around were working and it forced me to work more. But after some weeks I was missing more interaction and the chance to see different people every day.
Also, due to the layout, I felt like being again in an office and it was very disappointing. Basically, when I started the freelancer life it was because I wanted to run away from the office life/cage. So there I was again, in a place that looks like an office surrounded by people just working non stop around me, interacting just for 5 minutes in a coffee break.
SO WHAT WE DID ABOUT IT?
We started the Coffice dream, with the idea to combine all of the previous in just one place. Putting a big effort in the building itself, creating the homey feeling, offering the services of a coworking (good wifi, comfy chairs, meeting room, desks) and like in a Cafe, the chance to meet people every day.
Another plus, and thanks to our experience as hostel owners in South-America, we focused on the social (and informal) interaction between all the visitors.
We all agree that making money and developing your business is important. But just that? It is sad.
Coffice is a place where you can work during the day and after-work you can have a social life. The events are not just for coworkers, so basically the place when the sun goes down looks more like a normal bar or pub, with public access and where you can meet locals, expats, to travelers, digital nomads, and anyone who wishes to come.
Our events are Language Exchange, Meetups, Live Music, Art Exhibitions, Cinema nights, and the list never ends.
Who We Are:
A mix of Czechs, Slovaks, Argentinian and Brazilian people related to the travel industry, art and digital nomadism. Last but not least, we speak Spanish, English, Portuguese, Czech, and Italian.
This is Coffice and this is what we offer, a beautiful meeting point in a great location where we want to interact with everyone and have great energy around.
